About STH
STH is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing people with physical disabilities increased independence, security, and quality of life through specially trained service dogs. We ensure a valuable partnership that benefits both.
A service dog is not simply born – it is created through targeted training, socialization, and a close partnership with experienced trainers. At STH, we train Golden and Labardor Retrievers to become reliable helpers for people with mobility impairment.
At STH we work purposefully to create strong partnerships between people with mobility impariment and their service dogs. Our work includes everything from selecting and training puppies to providing support and follow-up throughout the dog’s entire life.

STH specially trains retrievers to become service dogs that can assist people with mobility impairment in their daily lives. Through 1.5–2 years of intensive training, health checks, and socialization, the dogs are prepared to perform practical tasks and provide security for their users – with support from STH throughout the dog’s life. The teams are ADI-certified.
A service dog without public access is a dog that, just like a regular service dog, has been tested, health-checked, and selected for its particularly good qualities and suitability.
Training service dogs requires many hours of work. A service dog’s education takes approximately 1½ years and begins when the puppy is carefully selected at around 8 weeks of age.
A service dog is specially trained to perform tasks for a person with a physical disability and has a number of rights that ordinary pet dogs do not have.
Meet our active service dog teams and discover the dogs and users who work together to create safety, independence, and joy in everyday life.
Here we honour the former service dog teams that are no longer active, following the passing of either the dog or the user.
